Faculty Development Programmes: One faculty development programe was conducted during September 2013- total 24 teachers of college had attended and trained by SBKS MIRC, MEU faculties under observation of observer form regional center of MCI. These workshops were accredited by Gujarat Medical Council Credit Hours. The GMC had granted 12 credit hours to all participants and additional one credit hour for resource faculty.

In addition Two (2) teachers of the college attended the basic course workshop conducted by the MCI Regional Centre at P.S. Medical College, Karamsad in the months of September, 2013.

Post Graduate orientation programme was organized by the MEU for newly admitted postgraduates in various departments of SBKS MIRC.

Undergraduate admitted for year 2013, the orientation programme was organized by MEU.

 

PRISM initiatives -

The MEU was established as per regulatory requirements of the MCI and is functioning as per set norms and standards. However there was a felt need by the core committee to go beyond the minimum requirements and explore new horizons. This gave birth to the PRISM initiative. Just like the prism which breaks incident white light into its component waves and creates the beautiful rainbow, the PRISM initiative of MEU endeavors to delve into the different constituent components of medical education and serve it in manageable proportion to the different stakeholders.

Workshop on Group Dynamics & Microteaching – Three workshops on Group Dynamics & Microteaching were conducted for the third year resident doctors of all the department of SBKS MIRC. Almost 65 resident doctors trained during theses workshops.

Faculty Development Workshop for Dental faculty was organized during month of October 2013. The MEU, SBKS MIRC had trained 24 faculties of K M Shah Dental College of Sumandeep Vidyapeeth. One more similar programme is under planning and expected to conduct in last week of January 2014.

Problem Solving for Better Health (PSBH) workshop – As a part of EBES, it was decided by the university that the third year part I students should give Evidance Based Community Health Project – PSBH. The first workshop was organized on 23rd & 24th April 2013. Students and facilitators had made 24 community based research projects. All students worked on the projects under guidance of respective facilitators. They had successfully completed projects. Theses projects were presented with results after six months.

Student Research & Community Health Committee – Under the umbrella of MEU, to sensitize medical students of SBKS MIRC for research and community health activity the Student Research & Community Health (SRCHC) was started. Here the students will play major role for promoting research and community health activity. The committee has organized first workshop on ‘Research methodology and writing research proposal’ for undergraduate students in December 13. Total 16 UG students had participated in workshop.

Researcher and Fellowship -

Dr Hetal Pandya, Professor Department of Medicine & Co-coordinator MEU has been selected as FIMAR Fellow for year 2014-16 from CMC Ludhiana.

Three faculties of MEU has sent papers for the NCHPE 2013 (National Conference on Health Professionals Education 2013 at Mumbai. They were accepted for poster presentation.
