Gandhi Jayanti Celebration 2016


The Cultural, Literary & Arts Committee along with students’councils of various institutes of SV, under the Chairpersonship of Dr. Vandana Shah organized Gandhi Jayanti celebrations on 30th Sept. & 1st Oct.2016,as per the directives of the Jilla Panchayat.

The Coordinator for the program was Mrs. Geetanjali Purohit.


1st Oct 2016

An Elocution competiton on “Gandhi’s Thoughts” was conducted,the details are as follows:

Venue   :           SBKSMI&RC Medical College and research centre Auditorium

Time     :          10 : 30 AM TO 1 PM


Welcome                       :                Ms. Selvi Khajanchi, 2nd Mbbs student

Prayer                           :                 Dr. Ishan Pandya, Resident, Skin Department

Address by Chief Guest    :   Veteran Air commodore Dr. G D Mehta

Address by Officiating Vice Chancellor :   Dr. G V Shah

Address by Registrar         :    Dr. M M Sattegiri

Elocution Competition      :  Participants from respective colleges

Play / Act                       :          Medical Students – Jaydeep, Ankit,Parth

Pledge for cleanliness – All the  Staff and Students of SV

Prize Distribution       By the Chief Guest

Vote of Thanks               :  Mrs. Geetanjali Purohit, Coordinator

National Anthem             :  All the Staff & students of Sumandeep Vidyapeeth

The program started with welcome of the dignitaries.  This was followed by  the  prayer very dear to Gandhiji,  “vaishnavajan to tene re kahiye.”  by Dr. Ishan Pandya. There were addresses by the dignitaries. The Elocution competition was held,followed by an act /play on significance of Swachchta by the students of SBKS. Thereafter a pledge for Cleanliness was taken by everyone present there led by Ms. Selvi Khajanchi. Announcement of prizes and prize distribution was done. This was followed by felicitation of judges; Dr. Vasudev Rawal, Professor and Head, Community Medicine, Ex Director Medical Education, Gujarat and Dr. Paresh Golwala, Professor and Head, Orthopaedics.

The program came to an end with a vote of thanks by Mrs. Geetanjali Purohit.
